The route, at least I start with a plan

Dream big. Start small. But most of all, start!

The startpoint is Kirkenes, near the Norway-Russia border. A village of fishermen, birdwatchers and spies. Or a combination. It is the endpoint of the E6 road and the Hurtigruten. Actually, the endpoint of Norway in general. And since the war in Ukraine, also the NATO border with Russia. Close to Kirkenes, a big NATO radar station is located. And Murmansk is only one hour drive further. Where the biggest part of the nuclear power of Russia is located, including the most important part of the marine.

An interesting article in Dutch: https://decorrespondent.nl/13073/dit-sprookjesachtige-stukje-lapland-is-het-decor-van-een-schaduwstrijd-tussen-de-navo-en-rusland/0818e039-07d5-024d-36dd-73eaace54851

Curious if i will notice something about the tension in this region. Last week, Russia changed the status of Norway from a ‘unfriendly country ‘ to a ‘very unfriendly country ‘.

The intention is to follow the route on the map below. First from Kirkenes to Nordkap via the light blue route. Followed by the brown track from Nordkap to Tromso. Subsequently,.the green path from Tromso via the Lofoten to Bodo. And when weather and stamina allows, the orange part towards Trondheim. In this part of the journey, i can reach the railway network of Norway to travel back home.

However, many potential reasons to change the route while traveling. Curious what the final route will be. At least I start we a kind of a plan.

Starting from Nordkap, I will follow the eurovelo 1 route (https://en.eurovelo.com/ev1).
