Day 3: Green day
The first day without the need to rush in the morning. It is Sunday for a reason.
Gjógv
First stop is a small but cosy village Gjogv. A small road takes us over the mountains to this village. The road is only open between april and October.
Halfway the road, we have a good view on the rocks before the island. The Witch and the Giant, who are pulling the island in the direction of Iceland according to the legend.

Gjogv has a narrow harbour, where today a group is planning to drop into the ocean via a zipp line.

We make a 6 km hike along the coastline , which is 100 m above sea level. We also climb the mountain, without a path. The way downwards is again straight through the fields. Only birds and two man on the hill.

Saksun
The last stop of the day is Saksun. A farm settlement with the most famous grass roots of the islands. One of the purposes of the grass layer is to provide weight, to prevent that the typical storms can lift the roof.

With low tide, you can walk via a narrow canyon over the sea floor towards the ocean

Giljanes Hostel & Campsite
This evening we stay at giljanes hostel. Which also has a small field besides the hostel where they park campers and people with tents can stay. In the meantime we recognize all campers on the island a hand full of people are making use of the same amount of camp sites

We can make use of the common living room and kitchen area of the hostel. The rooms has Windows with ocean view. And a cat keeps an eye in the guests.
A nice spor where we will stay two nights
