Day 7: Skarsvåg to Oldefjord
117 km and 1200 m klimmen
The choice of including the Nordkapp on my route involves a part which i have to ride twice. And that’s on the menu of today.
The weather has changed strongly. A strong wind, some rain droplets and a gray sky.
Time for the magic potion which I received from my kids. A small flask of Nutella has to give me the energy boost to push me through the same steep hills and tunnel again.
The cliffs are covered with a blanket of mist. The visibility is reduced to 30-40 m. The clouds are creeping over the mountains.
The vibe and perception of the same route is completely different compared to two days ago.
Halfway the trip, i maneuver my bike into the verge (or Bom like it’s sign posted in Norwegian) of the road. I lay my bike down on its side in the grass. And I start to arrange a quick pic nic with a view while sitting besides my bike. Almost directly a van stops near me. And another one. I look from one to the other, thinking they thought I felt and needed help. However, the people jump out their cars and are looking in front of me. Where a grazing herd of 40 Rendeer are passing right in front of me. At that moment a drone lift of 2 m besides me. To capture pictures from the herd. However, the Rendeer are moving to fast. And a minute later I am alone again. Just a typical experience Besides de E6 highway near Nordkapp.
I will spent the night in the same camping in Oldefjord again as two days ago.
Tomorrow, another ride over steep hills will bring me to Alta.
