Day 4: Kunes to Oldefjord
152 km and 1123 m climbing
An early start again today, as the rain radars indicate approaching rain and I prefer to pack my tent before they reach Kunes. So I wake up at 5:30, to get on the road at 7 o’clock. My raining cloths at reach on the back of my bike.
It became a race to the west to stay out of the line of fire of the approaching rain clouds. Two hours before I reach Lakselv, rain wins the game.
Lakselv was the intended endpoint of the day, however the predictions indicate rain till 16:00. So I would have to wait 4 hours to put my tent. Time which i could use to make progress as well to keep me warm and busy. A warm lunch in Lakselv helps me to decide to push myself 50 km further on the direction of Nordkapp, to the next camp site. Which brings the Nordkapp at reach for tomorrow.
An hour before arrival the weather starts to improve. Much more cars and motors are overtaking me as well, this is clearly one of the main tourist attractions in the area.
In Oldefjord I find a spot on the campsite / souvenir shop / hotel / restaurant area. At this point, the road split to Alta and Nordkapp. I have to return to this place soon on my way to Alta and Tromso.
The sun makes the final view worthwhile the suffering today.
